Attached are the typhoid management guidelines and the Public Health Act.
The Harare City Health Department has noted with concern, that a significant number of practitioners are treating typhoid or suspected typhoid cases without following set guidelines and public health procedures, resulting in typhoid ‘hot spots’
Members are reminded of the typhoid treatment guidelines as per attached documents.
Members are further reminded that, according to the Public Health Act, also attached, it is an offense to treat a notifiable disease without notifying the Director of City Health or Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health.
This is done to ensure that the disease is contained before it becomes an epidemic.
If in doubt please contact the City Health Department via Dr K Masunda on firstname.lastname@example.org
